The Division of Environmental Health and Risk Management is a dynamic multi-disciplinary research and teaching centre within the school of Geography, Earth and Environment Sciences. The Division is focused upon the provision of high quality postgraduate and post-experience education and training in the broader fields of environmental health and risk management. Both teaching and research build upon strong links with colleagues in the Public Health and Occupational Health fields through membership of the Birmingham Institute of Public Health, and with colleagues from industry and governmental organisations. There are nearly 100 postgraduate students belonging to the
Division’s programmes of study, working with staff in an environment that reflects our commitment to research and teaching. Both teaching and research have strong links with other Departments within the University, for instance Public Health and Epidemiology and Occupational Health. Seminars are regularly given by visiting researchers and the Division’s staff frequently present their own work in seminar series within the School, elsewhere in the University and in other institutions internationally. Our postgraduate students bring to the School a wide variety of educational and vocational experience.
The Division of Environmental Health and Risk Management is located within the Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences building at the centre of campus and also has teaching and laboratory accommodation within a purpose built facility on the West Campus.
